Kilimanjaro Company Review - Kathrin And Fabio

Kathrin and Fabio contacted Kilimanjaro Company while researching their ‘adventure of a lifetime’ trip to Mount Kilimanjaro. After dreaming about it for almost 3 years, they decided that 2019 was going to be the year when the ticked Kilimanjaro off their Bucket List, and we were delighted to be part of their journey.

Like many Kilimanjaro Company guests, Kathrin and Fabio were looking for an exclusive private Kilimanjaro tour with high-quality camping equipment and well-trained crew. Trips like these are our speciality, and the Lemosho Route they choose enjoyed a 100% success rate in 2019.

As we hoped, this trip exceeded all their expectations, and here’s what Kathrin and Fabio had to say about their experience with us…

We decided to climb Kilimanjaro in order to make a dream come true: The dream had initially come up some three years ago in thinking about “adventures for life”, January 2019 was the time to make it happen!

We spent quite some time searching the internet for a high-quality, exclusive offer. We soon found Kilimanjaro Company to draw upon our attention. The booking process was fantastic: Ingo answered all our questions almost immediately and never got tired of providing more and more details (what shoes to wear, what to pack, what to expect on the mountain…). Nonetheless, we must admit that we were still somewhat nervous prior to our arrival. After all, we were about to spend 8 days (Lemosho route) on the mountain with total strangers, needing to trust them to have taken care of everything required in order to support us in getting up to those almost 6000m. And it was our first time to those heights…

But upon our arrival, everything got even better than we had ever expected.

Logistics: Everything had been thought of – we got the best spots on the camp grounds, a portable flush toilet, water was always available and already purified, and every dinner was lit by a romantic candle.

Food: We were spoilt rotten every day – “the energy comes from the food”! Eggs and fresh fruit for breakfast, sit-down (!) or packed lunches with everything from fresh pasta to cooked chicken, and always a three-course dinner. Always plenty and of very delicious taste! Not to forget the freshly made popcorn for afternoon tea time 🙂.

Safety: We probably had the best guide on the mountain, Jonas. He was not only extremely experienced (>300 times up Kili), carried all necessary safety equipment, took daily medical checks and informed us about every single step of the route, but was also extremely fun and wise: “It is not a competition – to be happy, you must care less about others”. We were very grateful for his company and every single, pole-pole step he took with us. He really made this truly unforgettable for us!

Team: Up and above all, it was the entire team that made this tour so fantastic! We have rarely experienced so much joy and warm-heartedness. From teaching us Swahili, singing songs and dancing, playing cards with us in the rain, to making us laugh after a long and tiring day in a Santa-Claus-suite… 🙂 These 17 strong, extremely hard working guys were the once to really get us to the top! Thank you!

Overall, we can only recommend this fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime experience!

You must see it to believe it! We still keep rubbing our eyes…
