Pedro & Begona from Oviedo / Spain contacted us late August to ask if we could help them organise a tour in Tanzania for October. Their focus was to climb Mount Meru, while enjoying a more intimate and less crowded experience.
A couple of days later, they booked their tour, starting with the ascent of Mt. Meru (4,562 m). This was followed by four days spent exploring Arusha National Park and Mkomazi National Park. Established as a national park in 2006, Mkomazi covers an impressive area of over 3,200 km².
Here is what they had to say after returning from their dream holiday in East Africa.
I have no words to describe the feelings of our trip to Tanzania. First we climbed Mt Meru which was an incredible experience; the trekking through Arusha National Park, through the different habitats was amazing, not to mention that the trekking itself is a walking safari. We got up very early and reached the summit to see the sunrise over Mt Kilimanjaro and the see of clouds.
After, that we wanted to do few days of safari, but we wanted to go to less crowed places than the most common ones, so we asked Ingo for advice and end up visiting Arusha NP and Mkomazi NP, both so beautiful and so different ……one is lush green and the other arid and dry at this time of the year. Excellent choice!! The lodges were so good located that we could see wildlife from the room; in one of them there were giraffes roaming around and feeding within the lodge grounds!!! In none of my many years of dreaming to go to Africa I would have imagine something like that.
Thank you so much to Ingo for helping us to organise the trip and being always reachable when we needed and thanks to the trekking crew and safari driver for making this trip so special.
Asante sana to all of you!
Pedro & Begoña
